12 senior income tax officers have been dismissed from service for corruption and personal misconduct, including sexual harassment by the Indian government. The sacked officials include the ranks of principal commissioner, commissioner, additional commissioner, deputy commissioner, joint commissioner and assistant commissioner. The retirement has been ordered under Rule 56 (j) of the General Financial Rules of Central Government Services.
The list was topped by a joint Commissioner-rank officer because of very serious complaints of corruption and extortion from businessmen accused of helping self-styled godman Chandraswami. Other than him, an IRS officer in the post of commissioner (Appeal) in Noida, accused of sexual harassment by two lady IRS officers of commissioned rank was also dismissed. Another IRS officer with movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 3.17 crore by abusing his official position and by illegal means also received permanent retirement.
An income tax official who had a Disproportionate Assets body of evidence against him and had been suspended from administration in October 2009 pending criminal indictment was also dismissed by the government. Another official engaged with instances of defilement and coercion and who had passed wrong and mala fide appraisal arranges that were later turned around by redrafting experts also was retired. An official, who had amassed unbalanced resources worth Rs 1.55 crore and utilized hawala channels for moving the cash, also was resigned from the department.
According to the sources, the government may turn out with another rundown of expulsion of those officials which are under its investigation. The latest reports suggest that the govt. has sacked fifteen more officials under corruption charges recently from the CBIC or Central Board of Income Tax and Customs. The dismissed officials are Anup Shrivastava- Principal Commissioner in CBIC department, Atul Dikshit- Commissioner with CBIC, Sansar Chand- Commissioner, G Shree Harsha- Commissioner, Vinay Brij Singh- Commissioner, Ashok R Mahida- Additional Commissioner and Virender Agarwal- Additional Commissioner, Amresh Jain- Deputy Commissioner, Nalin Kumar- Joint Commissioner, SS Pabana- Assistant Commissioner, Vinod Kumar Sanga- Assistant Commissioner, Raju Sekar- Additional Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Aswal- Deputy Commissioner and Mohd Altaf- Assistant Commissioner.
