India’s second mission to Moon has been called off due to a technical glitch as per ISRO. The launch of Chandrayaan-2 was called off just as the space shuttle was preparing to launch on the 15th of July, 2019. ISRO took to the social media platform to post about the postpone of the Chandrayaan-2 launch on the 15th of July.
ISRO tweeted early today that a technical snag was observed in the launch vehicle system just 1 hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, ISRO has called off the Chadrayaan2 launch for today. The revised launch date will be announced later.
ISO revealed later that the technical snag came to their notice in the launch vehicle system today just 56 minutes before the scheduled launch of Chadrayaan-2. The launch of the spacecraft was scheduled for 2:51 am. The government space agency revealed that it was not possible to rectify the technical glitch and go ahead with the launch within the launch window. Thus, the next launch date for the Chandrayaan-2 will be announced later.
As per the reports, K- Sivan had earlier hinted at a reserve alternative launch schedule by saying that the space agency has another launch opportunity on Tuesday (16th of July) if it were to be called off on Monday, 15th of July.
Nevertheless, according to the same report, all launch windows have to be decided after going through a number of technical criteria. Hence, it could take several weeks or even months to decide on a new launch window.
It has been also revealed that just as the team at ISRO were preparing for the countdown of the Chandrayaan-2’s launch, the technical snag was revealed and the countdown was put on hold and later the launch was shelved for the moment.
As India prepares to spread its wings further in the space and increase the respect for itself in the world with its scientific feats, Chandryaan-2 will definitely play an important role in this development. We await eagerly for further details from ISRO.
