Xiaomi launched the Redmi 8 in India earlier this month. It is the successor to the Redmi 7 that launched in the country beginning this year. The Redmi 8 is all set to go on sale in India today. Notably, only the 4GB RAM model of the smartphone will be available for purchase in the country today. The sale of the Redmi 8 will begin at 12 noon today.
The Redmi 8 sale will take place on Flipkart, Xiaomi’s own e-store aka Mi.com and Mi Home stores. On all the platforms only the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model will be available. As a part of a special sale the Redmi 8 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant will be available with a price of Rs 7,999. This is a limited period offer and the price of this model of the Redmi 8 will increase by Rs 1,000. The retail price of the Redmi 8 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model is set at Rs 8,999. The base model of the phone with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 7,999. All the colour options — Onxy Black, Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green — will be available during today’s sale.
So, should you buy the Redmi 8? At the price of Rs 7,999 the Redmi 8 4GB RAM model makes a lot of sense.
The Redmi 8 is feature-packed and is a big upgrade over the Redmi 7. The Redmi 8 features a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It is powered an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This is the same chip that runs the cheaper Redmi 8A.
