Tata Motors has confirmed that it will launch the Altroz in India on January 22, 2020. The bookings for Tata Altroz are already underway and you can reserve one for yourself by paying Rs 21,000 at any dealership of the carmaker or its official website.
Powering the new Altroz is a BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Revotron petrol engine that develops 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Another option is a BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, Revotorq turbo diesel motor that makes 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. As of now, there will be a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors is expected to introduce an automatic variant at a later date.
The premium hatchback uses the Impact 2.0 design language and boasts of features like dual chamber projector headlamps (automatic) with LED DRLs, split taillamps, piano black ORVM, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, black contrasting roof, integrated rear spoiler and 16-inch laser cut alloy wheels. It cabin comes with 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, multifunction steering wheel, fully automatic AC, cruise control, 15-litre cooled glove box and blue ambient light.
You can choose between XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O) variants in the Altroz. It is available in High-Street Gold, Skyline Silver, Downtown Red, Midtown Grey and Avenue White colour options. Expectations are that Tata Altroz will be priced between Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo.
Based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, the Altroz gets standard safety features like ABS with EBD and CSC, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder and high-speed alert system.
