New Delhi: Union Cabinet Decision: A big decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The cabinet has approved the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G Scheme) till 2024.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the government has set a target of providing 2.95 crore pucca houses under PM Awas Yojana- Rural. Out of this, 1.65 crore pucca houses have been built by November 2021. The remaining families can also build their pucca houses, so that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural has been approved to continue till 2024. This will benefit lakhs of villagers.
1.97 lakh crores spent so far
Anurag Thakur said, till March 2021, Rs 1.97 lakh crore has been spent on PM Awas Yojana- Gramin. Out of this, the central government has spent Rs 1,44,162 crore. For the construction of the remaining pucca houses, the government has approved Rs 2,17,257 crore, so that by 2024, the rest of the family can be given pucca houses.
Let us tell you that the total expenditure of the central government in this scheme will be Rs 1,43,782 crore and out of this Rs 18,676 crore is included for the interest payment of loan to NABARD. Along with this scheme, payment is made to the hill states on the basis of 90 percent and 10 percent. While the rest 60 percent and 40 percent is paid by the Center and the states. At the same time, 100 percent money is spent on this in the Union Territories.
Money is also available for making toilets
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, Rs 12,000 is given for the construction of toilets, which is given in addition to the construction of the building. Along with this scheme, the resolve to provide pucca house, water, electricity and toilets to every family is also fulfilled, he said.
