After the massive win in the Lok Sabha elections for 2019, the existing Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath for the second time as the PM on 30th May, 2019. Other than the prime Minister, his new council of ministers will also take oath on the same day in New Delhi. The oath ceremony will be administered by the existing President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan from 7 PM onwards.

According to the communiqué issued by President’s press secretary Ashok Malik, “The President (Ram Nath Kovind) will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of Union Council of Ministers on 30.05.2019 at 07.00 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”

However, BJP has not yet disclosed the names of the leaders to be in the list of ministers who would join Modi in his new term. Though, not many changes are expected but we can definitely expect some changes in the ministry this time. This will be known only when the party discloses the names on the ministers at the ceremony.

This is a historical win for the BJP- led NDA alliance as this is the first time that BJP has won two Lok Sabha elections consecutively in the country ever. This makes Narendra Modi the first BJP Prime Minister who has been elected for the second time after completion of his five-year tenure. However, before Modi only two Congress leaders Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi have achieved to do so. Earlier, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been elected as the PM for two consecutive terms, but his first stint had lasted only for one year and seven months.

Several global leaders, including Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have congratulated Modi on his resounding victory. We also expect to see some global leaders at the oath taking ceremony again this time. In 2014, Modi had invited SAARC leaders, including the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif leaving everyone stunned. This is the highest- ever tally for the BJP that got just two MPs in its Lok Sabha electoral debut in 1984. In 2019, NDA together has strength of 353 MPs in the 543-member Lok Sabha, out of which BJP has a majority of 303 Members of Parliament.
