The Guest List For Modi Swearing-In Ceremony Includes High-Profile World Leaders

The swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second consecutive term is one of the major events this year. A number of high- profile leaders from the world have confirmed their presence at the ceremony. As the Rashtrapati Bhavan is all set to host the significant ceremony when President Ram Nath Kovind administers the oath of office and secrecy to Narendra Modi and other members of the Union Council of Ministers, let’s have a look at the world leaders who will be attending the oath taking ceremony.

The list includes leaders of all BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries. Other than India the member countries of BIMSTEC include Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, and Prime Minister of Nepal K P Sharma Oli have also confirmed their presence at the 2019 swearing-in ceremony of Modi. President of Myanmar U Win Myint and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering also confirmed their attendance at the event. The Special Envoy Grisada Boonrach from Thailand will also be present at the occasion. Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov also confirmed their participation at the event. The list was announced and confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

A total of 6,500 guests are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi this time as compared to approx 5,000 people who attended the ceremony in 2014. The swearing-in ceremony will be hosted at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan and this will be the sixth time that a Prime Minister is administered the oath of office in the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s forecourt. However, traditionally, the ceremony takes place at Durbar Hall. The live telecast of the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet of ministers can be seen on all Doordarshan channels including the YouTube channel of Doordarshan today from 6.30 pm.
